Excited to be teaching ballet!

Niki Thuman has a Bachelor’s degree in Performing Arts (Dance), a Master’s Degree in the Art Of Education, and certification in Dance K-12 and Elementary Education K-6.  Niki earned her undergraduate degree from Oklahoma City University, which is in the top ten in the nation for dance programs.  She later earned her Master’s Degree from Marygrove College.  She danced professionally in shows such as EFX starring Michael Crawford and David Cassidy, Dino, and Country Tonite.  When she was sixteen, Niki performed in Russia, Sweden, Denmark, and Poland through a dance exchange program.  In high school Niki danced for Maloney Productions at the Detroit Zoo and in New York, NY.  Last, Niki owned a successful studio in Washington for two years before selling the studio to move home to Michigan after she had her first son.

Recently, Niki won a choreography award from American Dance Awards, had a senior soloist win over-all high score, and had a petite soloist win Petite Miss Dance of Michigan.  She also has former students who are studying dance in college at colleges such as Juilliard, PACE University, Western Michigan University, Oklahoma City University, Oakland University, and Wayne State.  Further, Niki has former students who are dancing in New York, LA, and other cities throughout the United States.  Lastly, Niki is a certified member of The Great Lakes Regional Dance Masters Chapter and Dance Masters of America.  She is also a member of the Michigan Dance Council.  Further, Niki is certified by the Cecchetti Council of America.  Niki continues her dance education through regional and national conventions.  She also attends the Dance Teacher Summit every summer.
